About 21x21x1 Aerostar Air Filter

Actual Size: 20 7/8"x20 7/8"x3/4" Product: P80S.012121-6 8 Fights: Dust & Pollen

Square 21x21x1 returns are uncommon enough that you've probably struggled to find this size at a hardware store. This Aerostar measures 20 7/8" x 20 7/8" x 3/4" actual, sized for a nominal 21x21x1 slot. Pleated synthetic media construction with an electrostatic charge built into the fibers. MERV 8 handles standard household dust and pollen. MERV 11 captures pet dander, smoke residue, and most common allergens. MERV 13 takes care of fine particulates including bacteria, virus-sized aerosols, and wildfire smoke. The pleats provide substantially more surface area than a flat fiberglass filter would offer at the same nominal size, which is what extends the service life to 60 to 90 days under typical residential conditions. The electrostatic charge improves capture of sub-micron particles - the size range where mechanical filtration runs out of options. Manufactured in the USA by Con-Air Industries, Orlando, Florida. Cardboard frame, reinforced for shape retention under blower suction. MERV 13 in this depth reaches its pressure-drop limit faster than lower grades and wants a change closer to every 30 to 60 days under typical load. If anyone in the household has asthma or chronic respiratory issues, MERV 13 is worth the more frequent change schedule for the improvement in indoor air quality.

Improve Indoor Air Quality

Protect your family and loved ones with clean indoor air quality at home. Aerostar filters are a simple and cost effective step towards a healthier home environment, free of airborne allergens and particles that can trigger various allergy and asthma symptoms.

Improve Efficiency and Reduce Cost

An Aerostar furnace air filter helps keep your HVAC unit working efficiently by removing dirt and reducing strain on the motor. When your unit runs properly, it consumes less energy, requires less maintenance and will have a longer life.  These factors will have an impact on your utility bill and maintenance costs. It is recommended that you change the filter every 60 to 90 days during normal times of year but increase frequency to 30 days during peak summer and winter months when your unit is working the hardest.

About MERV, MPR and FPR Rating

The three rating systems were created by different organizations. MERV is the domestic and international Industry Standard rating system established by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers. The other two rating systems were created by 3M and The Home Depot, but all are rating the same filter.

MERV Rating (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value): As you have already learned, the MERV Rating is the primary rating system used in the industry, both domestically and internationally. Established by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers, MERV rates a filter’s ability to capture and hold particles and pollutants.

MPR (Micro-Particle Performance Rating): MPR Rating is a rating system developed by 3M. It rates the manufacturer’s Filtrete product line and their ability to capture airborne particles smaller than 1 micron.

FPR (Filter Performance Rating): FPR Rating is a rating system developed by The Home Depot for brands sold through their stores, including Honeywell. It utilizes a color code and number scale (4 to 10) that closely resembles the MERV rating.

What is a MERV Rating?

MERV ratings let you know the efficiency and level of filtration that an air filter can handle under normal circumstances. The higher the MERV rating, the finer the particles are that are filtered our of the air in your home. Many air filter retailers use MERV or a similar rating to rate their air filters.

Perfect fit

"This size seems almost impossible to find - couldn’t find it all in store. But it’s what my system uses, and this one fits perfect (the last one that was in there from the HVAC guy definitely has spots where it didn’t seem to fit right and I think things got past the filter)"

My Merv 8 Filters

"They were supposed to be delivered yesterday, but due to a needed rerouting by UPS, they arrived on Saturday. I have been using your filters for at least 9 years and have always been happy with them. After getting a replacement for the original 2 filters ordered (due to the crushed carton and filters) I finally have the additional 6 filters I bought after confirming the correct size. You might want to consider another shipper."
